Welcome to my website
As you can see from my photographs, I've had an ongoing love affair with photography, animals and their people. I grew up in a nurturing environment surrounded by lots of canines, equines and sports. Not surprising I gravitated to a life with all of the above and found myself writing and photographing, animals and their people for a variety of publications. Even when in my mid-40s I took a full-time position to manage a veterinary clinic, I was in my element being surrounded by people and their pets, so I'd take candid photographs documenting an office visit or two on a regular basis. And when I could manage the time, I brainstormed and came up with story ideas. Lucky for me, editors showed favor on my work. So the photographs you see stem from a photojournalistic point of view. I do not do photoshop...What you see is exactly what I saw from my view finder, capturing the action or a horse and rider running barrels at a rodeo, a horse clearing 4-ft. high jumps in a professional stadium jumping event, watching a clean performance in dressage and catching a dog strut its stuff at a dog show. My world then and now literally revolves around the next shot. I love being outside and have been know to record a beautiful blue-sky kind of day now and then. For me, photography catches a moment in time that no one else sees until they see my photo. Sometimes my focus zeros in on more stable subjects, those away from the action like the sidelines. Over the years I've learned that sometimes the best stories and photographs are on the sidelines. With a major in sociology and minor in education, I am a people lover. I am not your garden-variety kind of writer or photographer. I am self taught and learned the hard way. Luckily the hard way always led to an open door to enrich my life and fuel my passion. One last word, I am grateful for every one of my editors, TG, TN, DR, CM, to name a few, for being co-conspirators on my journey allowing me to fuel my passion. Thank you. There are more photos to come so stay tuned. My work is copyrighted. If you see something you like, don't copy. Contact me. I appreciate it!
